Michel Lucius made the world beneath our feet visible

He was a village schoolteacher, an oil prospector in the Caucasus, an adviser to the young Turkish Republic and Luxembourg’s chief state geologist. Michel Lucius led a life far larger than his modest birthplace in Reimberg might suggest. With support from LEADER Wëlle Westen, a newly founded association now hopes to bring the Michel Lucius Museum to a wider audience.

Two countries - one LEADER region

The Local Action Groups Miselerland in Luxembourg and Moselfranken in Rhineland-Palatinate are pursuing a joint, cross-border development strategy - as Europe's first and so far only transnational LEADER region. Around 50 LEADER representatives from Germany, Austria, Italy and Luxembourg learned how the spirit of Schengen enables European neighbours to overcome most challenges together on a three-day excursion to the Moselle.

The Mëllerdall producers want to show what makes their region special - with products, stories and a new image. A mobile concept is intended to create visibility, and the association wants to form a common identity from diversity.
